Ballroom & Latin
The word "ballroom" is a broad term used to describe most forms of partner dancing.
The name usually conjures up the image of traditional "ballroom" dances such as the
waltz, foxtrot and tango. Most ballroom dancers use it to group together the 5
traditional ballroom dances: waltz, foxtrot, tango, quickstep and viennese waltz,
plus the 5 competitive latin dances: cha cha, samba, rumba, paso doble and jive.
Here, at Simply Dancin, we use it as an umbrella for all partner dancing including
the Ballroom, Latin, New Vogue (formerly known as "Old Time") and Rock'n'roll dances. It also includes
Street Latin dances such as salsa and merengue. If you are not sure of what style of dance you prefer, then this is the class for you!
Beginner Classes
Tuesdays 7:00 - 8:30pm Wednesdays 8:00 - 9:00pm
Our beginner classes run as a ten week term, each term preceded by a week of
free introductory classes. Over the ten weeks we teach the bascis of approximately
5 dances from each of the styles mentioned above. The class has one hour of tuition
followed by a half hour of social dancing where you can practice what you have been learning.
Once again, you do not require a partner to join in to our beginner class.
Intermediate & Advanced Classes
Tuesdays 8:00 - 10:00pm Wednesdays 8:00 - 9:00pm (Intermediate only)
